I just sat through 'Countdown' as a background noise rather than watching it.

That Susie Dent person with her History of Words bit, wow, if you edited out all the Ums, Ers and Ahs she would have nothing to say at all!

And as for that female player, very poor performance, imo there should be some sort of test to weed out the ungifted!

Radio is for background noise...TV is for sitting down and watching properly (my opinion, of course). Our TV is only ever on when a programme is being watched...then, it's "OFF".
I really can't stand a TV switched on, if nobody is watching (properly).

Usually have 24hr News Channel as background if I've got something to do, but today was/is quiet.

You complained Susie had nothing to say, and that the female player was poor. If that doesn't imply not liking it I'm unsure what might.

Anyway I have just checked (Ch13) and she does say quite a bit but a lot of ums and ahs too. And Rachel is wearing a very nice snug blue dress. Excellent taste there :-)

I think the selection process for contestants does sometimes fail - it happens on several quiz shows (and I'm excluding the "reality" ones where they deliberately seek out freaks). One of the teams on Only Connect were abysmal this week, but that's life, shi happens.
