Jeremy Kyle - 'hypocrite'?

The media is full of the story that Jeremy Kyle and his wife have split up after her indiscretions with another man.

Leaving aside opinions of Mr Kyle's TV show, I cannot for the live of me understand why some parts of the media are labelling him a hypocrite.

I am not a regular viewer of the show, but the extracts I have seen do not show Mr Kyle holding himself up as some sort of paragon of virtue to participants, so why would he be perceived as being dishonest for his presentation technique?

In view of the fact that it is Mrs Kyle who has transgressed, again I feel baffled by the hostility placed on Mr Kyle for aspects of his private life, which are, in my view, just that - private.

Weird isn't it? He's never claimed to be perfect and often talks about his past gambling addiction.

I cannot stand him, he always seems so shocked at some of these stories on his show (so am I) and yet it is happening to him.

Thanks for that info - I have not read any details so far - if that is the case, then the media have a point.

I also feel very sorry for him. The show is immensely popular, he just gives what a lot of people want. I've never seen him put himself up as a good husband or be in a perfect marriage, only a good father.

I don't think he acts surprised when people have affairs - that is hardly sensational - it is the rest of the antics his guests get up to that make his jaw drop - and I can understand why. You never lose money overestimating the general public as Mr Barnum said.

If his wife is/was having an affair it's something he had no control over. I too feel sorry for him.

I agree - I cannot see, from what I know so far, that he is the sinner in this.

I don't watch the show but of course know the premise of it - can't see why he should be labelled a hypocrite either.

We must assume that his marriage WAS a shambles.
A good father? Who said? .....he did probably.

He was a gambling addict. As the daughter of a gambling addict he still gets my sympathy. As with most addictions it turns people into people they are not.

Maybe he has had bits on the side, that's not relevant here. He'd only be a hypocrite if he clucked about being in a perfect monogamous marriage. I don't think he ever has on his shows. Yes I've seen him regularly talk about doing the right things by his children but this is about him and his wife.
