Watchdog Tonight
I have been watching Watching this evening and the piece on the special specs that both Boots and Vision Express were fobbing people off with was very worrying.
Despite Watchdog proving that there was no evidence of damage to the eyes due to "blue light", Boots and Vision Express both still continued to deny that they were at fault in any way. My own Optician, an old family firm, told me in January that the blue light thing was just a scare and a scam to get you to spend more money.
In the same program, there was a piece about the usual wide-boy shyster, this time in chairs for people with medical conditions, the sort of things Matt Albright is a master at uncovering. There were all the usual sharp practise going on, and I don't expect anybody was at all surprised by this in any way.
The difficulty with the glasses scam, was that both companies are well-known High Street names and Boots especially has been going to yonks. It really shouldn't be happening to retailers of this calibre...or should it ?
If we are not safe in Boots, where are we safe ?
