Arguably it was worse in the 'good old days' when a few western nations 'boom bang a banged' and 'ding donged' cozily to each other and the good old U.K. seemed to win every other year. Then they allowed in the great unwashed who 'didn't understand democracy' according to Terry Wogan and the rest is a sordid tale of upstart nationsthat have no right to exist always winning . Except that previous recent dinners have included Germany, Sweden (twice) Norway etc.
So there is a little political voting by reinstated juries no doubt and a huge amount of partisanship (but would a lot of us vote for our own entry if we could?) in the post Brexit world maybe Lithuania will no longer get the most votes from the UK and it'll go back to being Ireland again.
My only criticism is that it is too damn big. Australia got in the back door and seems to be refusing to leave. At this rate the voting is going to last until Sunday morning.

Agree with ichkeria, the contest has just got too big. There's no reason why it shouldn't be split into two - east and west. There has to be heats, over two programmes, to see which countries get into the final! We, along with about four other of the original countries put money in every year so we, and they, go through automatically. If it wasn't for that we wouldn't have been in the final for several years, I don't think.
