Was that the worst final episode of any drama series ever? I looked forward to that for ages and feel totally disappointed. What a terrible ending

I'd have been more surprised if you had liked it vernon.

I thought it was excellent.........completely unexpected but utterly obvious at the same time.
I haven't made up my mind about how I feel about that ending! One thing, I don't blame Tom for leaving, what a dreadful pair his mother and father both are.
Yes, it was not what I expected. Felt really sorry for Tom having parents like that.
It was a clever twist, a hurt beyond measure.
Haven't watched it but have read all the hype about it. So what way did it end?
I thought it was a terrific ending. Why do you think it was so awful Vernonk?

Series 3 anybody;-))
Question Author
Utterly depressing, no hope for any of the characters. I sincerely hope there are no more series of it!
Even if there are, you don't have to watch them Vernon.
Thee only reason to have another series would be to reunite the family so that everyone can live happily ever after. That doesn't always happen in real life and, imho, it would be wrong to commission a 3rd series and i say that having tremendously enjoyed both 1 & 2.
Don't worry, they're just setting up the next series. Dr Foster 3 - finding Tom.
Exactly Ludwig. Tom has to be found.
I agree with you Vernon. I thought it was dreadful. Spent most of the episode waiting to see who'd top themselves, at one point it looked like they all might do it together. Struck me that the writer(s) must have run out of ideas. A wholly dissatisfactory conclusion. I have no interest in ever seeing more after that.
At one point I thought it was going to be a murder suicide ending - I was kind of happy to see her walk into the room before he (Hubby) injected himself
I need to know what becomes of the serial hypochondriac.

I commented to OH half way through that they could make a third series about how the boy was in five years time, maybe they will. What puzzled me was the receptionist giving a key to someone's room to some random stranger and who has whisky and coke with breakfast?
Yes I couldn't believe the hotel receptionist did that! And at the end when she couldn't find Tom and heard the sirens I was convinced he'd walked in front of a car
Gemma wasn't really a random stranger. The receptionist recognised her from her previous stay. Still very unlikely to happen anyway.

I suppose in this age of 24 hour alcohol, whisky and coke for breakfast might not be too unbelievable.
There would be no whisky and coke for breakfast in the home of the cratur. Not before 10am.

I wonder if posh hotels still have a bottle beside the porridge tureen though, for medicinal purpose of course. :)
I thought it was an excellent ending. Totally believable. Poor, Tom.
Gemma was paying for the room so why wouldn't they give her a key?
