Husky Voices
13 Answers
People with husky voices on tv programmes and adverts - what makes their voices like that? i would be worried they had something wrong with them. There is one now on A Place In The Sun, a Scottish accent but very husky. They also seem to be used in lot of adverts, do people think it is attractive - if so I am missing something.

It's probably just due to natural variations in the shape of people's larynxes (unless, as O_G suggests, something has damaged their larynxes later in life).
Husky/croaky voices don't seem to have harmed the careers of people like Rod Stewart and Jimmy Nail.

I love husky voices, Lankeela....though I do know some can be a result of smoking....
