Maybe Yes Maybe No

I have perused the answerbank rules and can’t find anything to help me with my hypothetical question which is,am I breaking site rules by asking some members to please not participate in any of my posts as I will gladly do the same with theirs,?this to most of you will seem childish but look at it from this angle if I argue or disagree with them there is a possibility I may say something that breaches the rules and find myself banned ,I have always been a believer in straight talking it doesn’t always help

Like everything else in life, jordy, you have to control yourself. I often find myself completely at odds with some contributors on here but with most of them (though there are one or two exceptions from whom I try to steer clear) it is possible to conduct a perfectly reasonable and civilised debate (even if heated on occasions).
The ABer I miss most in this respect is our old friend Mikey. We were poles apart on just about everything (except Lidl's wine and steam trains) but we still managed to get along.
There's far more satisfaction to be gained from demolishing your opponent's viewpoint than ranting and raving. You cannot really create a "clique" of people who are like minded (and so with whom you won't argue). It doesn't work like that.

Jordy.......you pose a very pragmatic issue here.
The majority of differences of opinion are just that and are resolved without antagonisms or insults, but there are some that wait in the wings and continually snipe, ( could name at least four.)
What should one do?
If one has the conciliatory gene in one's chromosome make up, then it will be no big deal, let it go over your head.
If one hasn't (and i haven't) then if the attacks get abusive, slanderous and persistent then rules or no rules you must decide whether or not it is worth taking a suspension or even a banning rather than letting them run roughshod over you.
I would choice to take the latter.

This is a public forum *not* a private members' club, Jordy.
Everyone here has to abide by the rules and even if you don't want *me* turning up on your threads, there is nothing to stop me doing so, providing I keep a civil tongue in my head. You are not forced to respond to me, but if you do, you need to do likewise....

//but it not easy to get snide remarks //
Jordy, I get them on a regular basis, you have to rise above or answer in such a way as to stay within the rules.
If self control is an issue then that's when you'll fall foul of Site Rules.
