I'm happy at the outcome of this.
Naturally, the 'substantial damages' will come out of Central Funds rather than the pockets of the executives responsible. It may be too much to hope that those same executives are carpeted for this stunt but I'd like to think it would give similar pause for thought in the future...

>>>I just can't bring myself to feel sorry for him.
Up until now he is innocent.
He has never been charged with anything.
How would you like it if loads of police arrived at your house, took you away in handcuffs, and then searched your house for the next few days?
Even if you did not get charged with anything can you imagine the neighbours gossip and accusations.
It wold be bad enough for a private individual let alone for such a famous person.
I think the behaviour of the BBC and the Police was disgraceful and he deserves everything he gets.

I remember in 2003 the actor Matthew Kelly was arrested after some accusations.
He was actually appearing in a pantomime as Captain Hook at the time and he was arrested as he came off stage.
Charges were never brought.
But why on earth did the police have to go an arrest him just as he came off stage?
Surely a famous person like that could have had a "low key" arrest and questioning.
Sometime the police behave in such a heavy handed way.
Even though he was never charged there is still details about his arrest on the internet, so casting doubts on his name and reputation after all this time.
Article from 2003 Daily Telegraph below still on the internet.
