Children in need
Why do these children have to depend on a night of charity to enjoy what should be a right? Please don't get me wrong I am not for one moment knocking this charity which does a fantastic and worthwhile job.My point is the money raised should be a "gimme" from the goverment in any decent society.
Tony Blair, who committed billions to the Iraq war and occupation, had the nerve to say how much he supported Children in need last year. Just think what difference a fraction of that money would make to these children and indeed to anyone else in need..

orange-gnome - don't think anyone is suggesting they should be as rich as america...the point is they should have basic food and clothes - that is a huge leap between abject poverty and extreme wealth.
I hate the way all these celebrities ask us for money on these shows - i'll bet half of them aren't giving much.
they earn huge amounts yet they are asking people on the breadline to cough up. if the pm's wife is too tight to do things for charity for free - knowing it would be frowned upon more than other celebs - then i'm sure half the turns on these shows are the same.
i'd like to know how much people like elton john and paul macartney give, considering they could probably give more than the entire poulation give in one go and not miss it
