Sony Walkman problem

My mini Sony walkman radio (8RF-M95) ( out of warranty but barely used) keeps cutting out and emitting a high bleep every time I press the ON/OFF button. I can't get anything at all out of it now. Any idea what is wrong. (Haven't used it enough to run down the battery but there's a small square flashing icon in top LH corner of digital display). Thanks.

That still sounds like the battery. Even if you haven't used it, the battery can still run down. Try a new one and see if this solves the problem.
