Out and about at work the last couple of days, Ive lost count of the number of people who have said the same thing. ''What's happened to the weather, its freakin odd?''
Its seems to be neither one thing or the other. Its supposed to be summer and it *IS* hot. But not sunny kind of hot. Its damp and rainy and tropical kind of hot.

Another thing Ive noticed, the weather forecast changes by the hour. Like they cant forecast with any accuracy anymore. Checked forecast this morning for my region and it gave out rain for 3pm onwards. Had a (very)slight shower and then back to hot, damp and sticky. Last week they gave out thunderstorms for most of the day. Never happened but every hour it changed, pushing the storms back to a later hour.

Don't know about greenhouse effect but this weather is definitely odd.
Or is it just me that thinks that?

it is just you
Nothing has happened to it. This is normal, changeable summer weather for the UK. August is the second wettest month of the year. It's not "climate change" or "global warming". It's weather.
Always been difficult to forecast very accurately for the UK, Nailit.....and now with climate change upon us even more so....we'll just have to get used to it...
I recall when "global warming" was used and numpties, not understanding what warming would do, said....bring it on!

Well here it is...and it's horrid.... x

Well. Thats sorted that one then ;-)

I don't notice much difference between this and any one of a number of summers I have endured in the past.
You need to pay as much attention as I do then, NJ....:-)

I remember MANY summers been hot and sunny. Not hot and wet.
Explain to me, then, what weather events have occurred in the UK this year which have not been similar to other events which occurred before Global Warming was invented?
Hot/warm and wet is becoming the norm in many places, Nailit. You only have to follow the path of malaria carrying mosquitoes to see one effect of climate change......
Mosquitoes and climate change has interested me for a while.....have a google...... it is interesting....well I think so but then I think a new crochet pattern is interesting..... you okay?....x
"Global warming invented"..... oh dear....little point in that case, NJ......you look for it if you really want to know. Plenty of information out there....x

Nah. I'm hot, sticky and wet all the flaming time ;-)

Interesting about the mosquito thing, will look into that...
Not long until you can be cold, shivering and grumpy though.
Mmmm....... it's the hot, sticky and wet that's annoying and different.....well if we are still talking about weather... ;-)

Do have a google about mosquitoes......and the other differences climate change is making that we don't hear about...... x
me too, nailit. Past summers (not 2018) have been typically warm, occasionally sultry, usually cloudy in the day but clearer morning and evening. But the last few weeks have felt almost tropical, alternating very warm and sticky and raining, often two or three times in the same day.
i think it's something to do with this Brexit palaver ...

Could be, Ael.... growing up if there was a thunder and lightening storm my mum would tell me that God was very angry with me and ask what I had done wrong so I could be forgiven......I must have confessed to so much I didn't do to try to stop the storm.... :-(

So if God is angry with Brexit he could be punishing us with this horrid weather..... ;-)
Years ago the seasons as stated were exactly that. I think with chemical intervention on the planet, human disregard for care as to what may happen 'if', it's made things worse. However that's a guesstimate isn't it, we have no more idea than our ancestors did......que sera sera IMO.
I think we do have more knowledge than our ancestors did, Dunnitall.
Sadly it suits many to ignore...... :-(
Was not and sunny here this morning, then lunchtime the sky went pitch black and we had absolutely torrential rain and flooding!
