Why do people with a political job post offensive things on Facebook and Twitter, which costs them their jobs?They must be really really dim not to realise they are publishing to a world audience, including their employers and political masters. Lots of them do it, I suspect a few libations may have been a contributing factor.

I read about this yesterday. Sadly Ms Oakes typifies many who are involved in local politics. It's not the particular issue which I refer to (which is about as appalling as it can get, whoever the target) but the attitude such people have that they feel free to spout bile and drivel on social media because (they believe) they hold a position of authority and must be heard. I have repeatedly suggested that local government - particularly at the lower levels that this odious individual is involved in - is a complete waste of time and money and only serves to occupy the time of the interfering busybodies whom people are foolish enough to elect.
