Went a drive to a small town yesterday, one I'd never been before, saw a little private run cafe, guess what, I sat outside and ordered a coffee £2.40, not only that, when she bought my change back, I gave her a sixty pence tip. I'm wondering now if I'm going off the rails and losing all sight of common sense.

no, you are behaving like most people do
who is this and what have they done with teacake?
i bet she was thrilled at getting a tip.

I had to stop myself ordering a teacake with the coffee that would have been going a step to far. It really got to me when on the way back I popped into Sainsburys to get my coffee for my cafetiere, a 227g espresso fairtrade ground coffee for only £2.30 and that lasts me 2/3 weeks sometimes more. If I carry on spending like I did yesterday I think I will need to seek help.
Blimey 3 quid - I coulda got 1/2 my car cleaned for that!

^^ I know I'm having regrets today, and there's not much help and support coming from AB.
couldn't you have had a teacake for 60p and cut the tip out?
Question Author
^^ But then I would be thinking that you can buy 6 teacakes for around 80p, sometimes less at Aldi
i know, it's a minefield . . .
I've got 18p in coinage in my purse. I'm willing to chuck that in the collection fund.
T/C you have become a very rash person of late , are you medicated ? :-)
Question Author
At least Lady its nice to know there is some help on offer out there, I mean if I was on drugs or gambled there would be loads of help, my worry is this could start to get out of control.
Question Author
ann after yesterday I can't afford any medication.
£2.40 sounds very reasonable for a coffee in a cafe. Stay calm in the knowledge that you made the waitress very happy, giving her a tip. Perhaps you should make a habit of it!
I'm not bothered what I pay for a coffee out, so long as I enjoy it.
Agree if the coffee, service and ambience is good then I am happy to pay and tip
I'm so glad that I don't have to penny pinch.
Question Author
I enjoy penny pinching, and the rewards it brings. At ten years old I still to this day remember my mother taking me to the post office to get a savings book, to stick saving stamps in, and her words were, look after the pennies and the pounds look after themselves, and that will always be the case. A fool and their money are soon parted.
I've left a twenty quid tip on a ten quid meal before now. It was very special though ;-)

^ OMG that sent a shudder down my spine. :0(
