London Pubs With Music?

Later this month, two friends are travelling down to London for a few days. They'd hoped to take in a show while they were there... until they saw the price of tickets! They'd now settle for an evening in a nice pub, one with live music. I'm not totally up on their musical tastes, but we're talking two women in the their 50s, who've been to see Michael Bolton, Olly Murs, who like Tina Turner.. and some modern country music. My friends are staying in a hotel near Hyde Park, so any place near there would be good. Thanks for any suggestions, tips etc.

In that posh area, they will be upmarket bars with a bit of karaoke thrown in.

Calmk, the street name hasn't come up in conversation and I know they're happy to be venturing out and about - so much of central London would probaby do.

With regard to the possibility of seeing a show (at a sensible price), please ensure that your friends are aware of the TKTS booth in Leicester Square, which is the official Society of West End Theatre outlet for unsold 'on the day' tickets to plays and musicals. They also now sell tickets online, here:

You'll see from the website that some tickets are being offered for today's performances of popular shows, such as Get Up! Stand Up! (with the music of Bob Marley) from £22.80, Jersey Boys from £23.80, Phantom of the Opera (from £42.30), Mamma Mia! from £18.50, etc.

There are a multitude of pubs and bars with live music within central London and around it but, unlike most other cities, your friends shouldn't expect to find many without some sort of entry charge (and booking in advance is often necessary too). These links might help:

Thanks, Buenchico. The entry charge for the pubs wouldn't bother my friends, but booking might - they like to be spontaneous. I'll give them the ticket site info/link, that could prove useful (though it wasn't on one of my previous trips myself - it must have been a busy, successful years as there were NO real bargains to be had!)
