Usb Stick Problems

I downloaded "The Crown" seasons 1 and 2 and put both of them on a 14.6 gb USB stick. I watched season 1 till episode 8 then the file system couldn't be read so episodes 9 and 10 plus all of season 2 was unreadable. I downloaded season 1 episodes 9 and 10 and put them on a new usb stick. So far so good but when I try to put all episodes of season 2 on a new USB stick it says the file is too big for the stick. The file size is 5.7 GB and available space on the stick is 14.6 GB/. I've formatted the stick etc and can't see how 5.7 GB file is too big for a 14.6 GB stick???
If you know a way round this, or failing that, do you know how to split the season 2 into individual episodes. I don't see that option. I am using Windows 10 and the stick would be to watch on my TV. I have converted the file system from mkv to AVI and then to MP4 all to no avail. Thank you in advance

Where did you buy the memory stick from? The majority of those sold on eBay (and similar) are fakes, where they've been configured to display more memory than they've actually got.

It's the format of the stick - FAT32 max file size of a single file is 4GB.

Best way if you do this a lot, without having to mess about recoding the files to reduce the size (and quality) is to get a cheap portable HDD and format it to NTFS format.

Thanks! I only know as I've hit the problem myself.

Looking at this link it is possible to format a stick to NTFS but there is no guarantee the TV will read it but worth a try/

To re-format the USB drive to the NTFS file system using a Windows PC . . .

Insert the drive into a USB port.
Go to File Explorer.
Right-click on the drive's icon.
Select 'Format'.
In the File System menu, select 'NTFS'.
Click 'Start'.

Windows machines can both read and write files with NTFS drives. Macs can only read from them. If you're plugging the drive into your telly, or another type of recording device, then (unless the instruction manual helps) you'll simply have to try it to see if it will work.
