Flixonase nasal steroid drops (Fluticasone) and rhinolast nasal spray/azelastine?
Can they be used together to treat vasomotor rhinitis/nasal polyps? I have had this condition for a long time but it it never well controlled. I have seen ENT specialists they just say to continue the steroid spray and drops. I am currently taking an oral antihistamine which helps somewhat (though it is not an allergy I have - iga blood tests were negative).
I was originally prescribed momenta some nasal spray but it doesn’t do much so was prescribed flixonase drops. I also want to try a local antihistamine (azelastine) at the same time to see if the combination helps any better. The only thing that provides rapid relief is Vicks nasal spray but I am unable to use this long term due to rebound effect.
I am unable to get an appointment at my gp the waiting list is very long and every time I ask at a pharmacy store they tell me they cannot advise and to see my gp.
I just want a rough answer to my question I am aware that I still need to see my gp

I would think they would be safe , they are usually for allergic rhinitis . I did check and they can be used in combination for severe vasomotor rhinitis as well.
ENT is Sqads area of expertise, I have just looked up the condition on a couple of reliable websites.

Sorry to jump into your post Raidergirl. I also suffer from Vasomotor Rhinitis and had a bad attack a few weeks ago. All clear now, for the moment, except for loss of taste and smell. From your experience and I ask Sqad too, will it ever come back ? Mr.Sam made some lovely Gravadlax to eat last night, ( amongst other things ) and I could't taste it.
Samuraisan- it is hard to say if your sense of smell or taste will come back, I suppose the longer you have been without it the less likely maybe. In my experience sense of smell waxes and wanes over the course of hours
Thanks again sqad, this is what I am doing experimenting again with combinations of meds and since I will have it long term I feel I should make sure if things can be taken together without mithering my gp.
I did ask one doctor years ago if this will ever go away he said he can’t say for sure and that I might get lucky with age. Please don’t ruin my 0.002% chance and hope by saying that I will have it all my life ; ) I am still hoping for some Star Trek inspired nasal laser in the future which will solve the issue.
