Popup Adverts

For the last three days I have been inundated and I mean inundated with popups on my Xaiomi  phone. The vast majority  are telling me I have a virus or I need to clear cache. It is then immediately  followed with a popup from Play store  with  apps to download that will  solve these problems.  Which  of course I haven't  downloaded. The other  popups appear for plumbing or medical items.

I have run Malwarebytes and  Bitdefender and both tell me I  am clear and have no problems.   I even get popups while these  are running.  

Any advice  would be very  much appreciated.  I am normally  so very careful  what I click  on but must have clicked on something  I shouldn't  have.

Thank you Chris. There's  a lot to try there. Will give it a go. Fingers crossed I find the answer. 

I haven't  downloaded a new app for ages , do hope I can sort it.

No joy I'm afraid. I've uninstalled some apps but it hasn't made any difference.  All my settings appear to be as they should be too. So I am at a loss as what to do next.

It's very annoying  but  looking like something I will have to get used to. I was thinking about a factory reset  but I've alot of things I wouldn't want to loose.
