another belter from the religion of peace.

There will never be peace while religion persists.

No, there will never be peace while Islam persists

Syria is vulnerable to outside interests and because there are several religious groups there it is easy for a few agitators (allegedly not Syrian) to whip up unrest.

brainiac, remind me again how Islam is a threat to peace in Ireland.

Islam is a threat to peace everywhere.

I was reading yesterday an interview with the great war photographer Don McCullin (at 90). He's been in every war zone in his life, and spent years in, and knows Syria very well.

He said this new regime will not last long before the country sinks into civil war between ISIS, (which they effectively are) and all the other groups; Allawites, Druze, Kurds and Christians. Not that they will want to fight on religious grounds at all, but for their very continued existence against the aggression of these Islamists dedicated to their destruction.

syria can two ways, muslims will kill all the christians, then they will kill eachother or the hardest of the militias consolidate the country by force wiping out radicals who do not want peaceful coexistence and prosperity.

from the OP's link

Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), the main Islamist faction which led the uprising that toppled President Bashar al-Assad, said foreign fighters had been detained over the incident.

HTS representatives have promised to protect the rights and freedoms of religious and ethnic minorities in Syria.

Footage on social media appeared to show masked men dousing the Christmas tree with an unidentified liquid the night before Christians in Syria prepared to celebrate Christmas Eve. It was unclear whether they were trying to put the fire out or help it spread.

Videos of the aftermath showed a religious figure from the governing HTS rebel group assuring crowds who had gathered in Suqaylabiyah that the tree would be repaired before the morning.

The man then held up a cross in a show of solidarity, something Islamist conservatives would not normally do.

what else can they do?

They have a difficult  job ahead of them if they do what they say they will. We will have to wait and see

maybe hts have noble intentions, will see, islamics never seem to change though, maybe it's to build up arms, get respect first, help etc aid, arm then start a massacare under islam. will see.

Leopards & spots springs to mind

There will NEVER be peacful co-existance until they learn to tolerate each others religious views. History shows it ain't gonna happen.

another twitter  from TTT plenty more vapid one-liners where that came from

I think the people of Syria are telling their liberators they want a secular society

for an ISIS society see

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7356518/reviews/?ref_=tt_urv_sm

the reviewers are western doubters - start with episode 2 where they bury the Christians alive. or the final episode where the modern band is machine gunned as they play

someone even says - this may all the  true ( it is) but why is it  in a drama?

erm yeah mainstream AB
