little britain is tops.the rest are crap.seeing them live in sheffield in april.
No need to be sorry !

I think they have there moments but most of the time its just rehashing a lot of the same gags week after week.

If you want funny then you cant get much better then Father Ted, Spaced, Black Books.....well in my opinion anyway :-)
yes! catherine tate and little britain are hilarious and ocasionally appear on bbc3
never quite got into the office but i think little britain and cathering tate are like every other comedy show, they have sketches that appeal to certain people and other sketches which appeal to others.

Little britain used to be funny. Katherine Tate has some funny moments. The Office was funny though.

Depends on your humour really.

I think the office is one of the best british comedies ever, but as coobeastie says it depends on your humor. As with most sketch shows, Catherine Tate Show and Little Britain have some funny sketches and some not-so funny. In my opinion the best comedy series ever has to be Im Alan Partridge, but im also a fan of Scrubs and Curb Your Enthusiasm
I find Catherine Tait funnier than Little Britain. As for The Office it is pure genius. Agree with teamcool, Alan Partridge is fantastic, along with the Royle Family and Early Doors.
Give me the Life of Brian anyday.... no matter how many times I watch it I still laugh
The old woman sketches from the Catherine Tate Show who is going a little senile and swears a lot is the funniest comedy character on TV from the UK since Rigsby, Rab C Nesbit and Ronnie Barker in Porridge. If I was in charge at the BBC, I would write her character into Eastenders or give that character her own show....Come on BBC!!
Scotman84 I'm interested to know which progs you found funny on UK Gold? I don't really watch the channel; do you mean old sitcoms! Little Britain went off the boil but I think The Office (and Extras) are hilarious. Seinfeld is a good old one; do you mean that?
hi scotman84, i don't like any of them programmes, think they are all a load of rubbish. i used to love watching the young ones, now that was funny.

Like Khana says, the problem I have with most of the current comedy shows is they consist of the same gags over & over. I agree, they are usually very funny gags but it soon stops being funny when you know what the punchline is going to be.

I would also agree totally with Khana for the funniest shows being Spaced, Black Books & Father Ted - but don't forget The League of Gentlemen (the TV series, not the film or the recent theatre tour)

Oh, and of course, mustn't forget Green Wing - new series is rumoured to start at the end of March...

Thanks for your views folks. I'm probably just an old fuddy-duddy. I was into Morecambe & Wise and thebTwo Ronnies. Also The Young Ones, Bottom and Monty Python. I don't think the new shows measure up.
I'm so glad you didn't mention Only Fools and Horses, now that is bad. I love the Catherine Tate show , the office is good and Little Britain was good when it started but lost it's way a little.

For me the Two Ronnies is the greatest of all, with out doubt the best comedy show and two greatest commedians ever.
The Office is, in my humble opinion, the funniest comedy ever made on these shores. The humour is just so understated and subtle, unlike those supposed 'great' sitcoms like Only Fools and Horses and Porridge, in which you can see the jokes coming a mile away, and the writers are only interested in keeping up a high gag ratio, rather than writing three-dimensional, interesting characters. Peep Show is also hilarious. I really love the new brand of sitcoms without excruciating laughter tracks, such as Scrubs and My Name is Earl. They realise that the audience is intelligent enough to work out for themselves when to laugh. Not as keen on Catherine Tait or Little Britain, although the latter was good to begin with before it bought a dead horse and decided to flog it repeatedly.

i agree although i did like little britain at first , but now the novelty has wore off.

the old stuff is the best. only fools, some mothers do ave em, monty python & 2 ronnies etc...

I can't believe only STOO_PID has mentioned the most cutting edge and gross laugh out loud show that has hit tv for in the past 6 years. The League of gentlemen is in a class of its own as far as british comedy is concerned.

Depends whether you like sketch shows or comic soaps (such as Only fools etc). I like Catherine Tate, liked the first two series of Little Britain before they believed their own hype, thought the Office was and still is one of the funniest shows I have seen. But League of Gentlemen is the funniest for me.

no i dont find them funny i am into early doors, royal family & vicar of dibley.
