I remember this being a BBC 1 when I was a kid. It was a dubbed series. It involed a kid making a deal with a bloke, that meant that he would win every bet he every made but would never be able to laugh again. Sounds crazy but I can remember I loved it!

Oh my God, yes! I vaguely remember this. I think it might have been German. The kid could always laugh his way out of trouble (think he knocked some woman's oranges over and just laughed his way out of it). The bloke was jealous of his laugh and did some deal with him which ended up with the bad guy being able to laugh and smile which he couldn't do before, and the kid lost the ability to do this. Was it called something like (kid's name)'s laugh or (kid's name)'s smile? Argh, gonna bug me now!

I'm glad someone esle remembers it! I can picture that the bloke had a house on a hill and the kid won a bet about an elephant walking down the street. When I've had a few I always ask my mates whether they would swap laughing for winning any bet!

I loved that show too. I think it was called Tim Tyler, i know that was the name of the kid with the laugh.

the programme was called the legend of Tim Tyler and i think he became friends with some old sailor guy and a nun.
