I think he felt his singing was quite weak- which it is!!! He is not a singer, but he is a cheeky chappy and used to be great on Brookside, and has the sort of face and personality that the public like. So a great voice may not be necessary in his case. I think he just had a gut feeling about him.

Maybe I missed it, but I didnt see Louis or Sharon express any surprise at having to select an extra person. If they had Im sure it wouldve been shown for "dramatic" content. IMO Weedy Shaun/Sean was scheduled for the door but its more "dramatic" for Simon to kick out Ray and bring him back than do that with Sean. Remember in previous series when Sharon dramtically brought back Chenai after ditching her? I like this show but I treat it for what it is, and put no trust in it whatsoever.
