It was Rodney Bewes, i don't think he ever appeared in The Bill.
The other actor who played alongside James Bolam in the Likely Lads was Sir Rodney Bewes. Bolam played 'Terry' and Sir Rodney played Bob. Can anyone remember who played his wife, 'Thelma'.
Yes Barquentine - It was the wonderful Brigit Forsyth. Btw, has Rodney Bewes been knighted?

Rodney Bewes appears to be one of the few working actors in Britain who *hasn't* appeared in The Bill!
Rodney Bewes was married (may still be) to a woman with a title which may be where this confusion about "Sir" Rodney comes from. If she was the daughter of an earl, she will be "Lady" whatever and will keep the title on marriage. However, the husband remains plain "Mr" as title don't pass through the male line except in certain rare cases.
Its ok mikewith, i'm sure he's being lined up to go to skelthwaite, with the rest of the 'where the heart is' crew... if I have to see one more actor thats 'been in something else' have to put on a northen accent and move to bloody skelthwaite i'll...
