Did anybody ever really escape from Alcatraz Prison?

The answer is that the FBI, who investigated the most famous attempt to escape from The Rock, don't think so - but they don't know for sure. Frank Lee Morris who inspired the movie Escape from Alcatraz, masterminded that attempt, aided by bank robbers John and Clarence Anglin, but they were never seen again. The fact that their bodies were not found can be taken to support claims that they succeeded - or conversely that they drowned.
