dose eneyone think that the t.v licence is a joke as you pay your fee (wich is over priced) and that covers you for a year then the next year you pay the same to watch repeats so we should have a rebate as we have already paid?
Nah, I'm well happy - I'd rather pay the licence than a subscription, and if you ask me, ALL the channels are guilty of repeats - Sky with the simpsons and Star trek stuff, E4 with friends, etc etc.
A ticket to the opera might cost over 100. A trip to a West End theatre will cost around 45. To watch a football match might cost 30. A trip to the cinema might cost 6.
So, if a service costing just 36p per day could only deliver one interesting programme every few weeks, it would still seem to be good value to me. However, the BBC does far more than that. It uses that 36p per day to give us all of this:

In my area we still can't get digital, so the only bbc channels we can get without subscribing to sky is bbc1 and 2! People who can get all those channels are very lucky!
I am quite happy paying my TV licence.. Although we dont watch much that is on BBC, I like the fact that it pays for more than just 2 channels. We do listen to the local BBC radio and I always read the BBC news page on the internet which is also paid for. You pay for all TV in some way so what is the problem
I think it`s ok. When you think of all the chanels you could get if you wanted & were able to it`s good value. Yes there are repeats, but as said before, all the chanels are guilty of that. If you want to, you can watch tv 24/7. The choice is yours though whether to have a tv or not.
one other point is that, have you read the numerous requests for information about wether this or that programme is being repeated? So obivously there are some folk who want some repeats!
i used to think it was a bit pricey until i got a digibox. according to freeview i shouldn`t be able to get the extra channels but it works fine. so chazza if you look in m8, BORROW one if you can and try it before you buy one as they dont give refunds on them
