... Well he told her to take it back which she did but got caught by that Yank who used to be in Spooks when she was putting it back in the drawer and said that she would have helped her if she'd just asked for help and she had to let her go because of the break in trust. The guy's dad is then killed.
Robert Carlyle and AnneMarie Duff get together and you find out that the woman he's been looking for is his mum. He finds out where she works only to find out that she died of (lung?) cancer 4 years previously. He then gets in a violent rage with AM Duff and tells her to get out. She goes into labour in the night and bangs on his door for help but he isn't there. She goes to hospital and her little girl gets taken to foster parents.
Colin Firth gives up all the charitable business after dropping the teenage girl. He takes his wife out for a meal and when driving home he almost hits Robert Carlyle (Who is wandering about in the streets post bust up with AM Duff) with his car. Robert Carlyle follows them, rings their doorbell and stabs Colin Firth.
You then see Robert Carlye just walking down a street in a daze and he gets taken off by police.
Last shots are AM Duff in hospital with her new baby screaming and cut to Emilia Fox crying on a hospital bed with a quiet baby in a cot next to her. You assume that Colin Firth is dead.
