BBC 1 Sci Fi Program

Does anybody remember a sci fi program that was shown on BBC 1 about 9pm on a friday (i think) in the late 90's about an alien invasion. Victims were captured and taken to another dimension where they were bound in some goo like substance. I remember that the army played a big part in the story and that the aliens could just appear from anywhere, but the one thing I can't remember is the name of the program. I think it had about 6-10 episodes and the final....


...a woman entered an alien creation, something looking like a mountain, she flew in and had to bomb it or something....

anyway..sorry the details are vague, but if anyone can help that would be great.

I never actually saw it, but could it have been 'Taken'?

I have seen taken, that was by spielberg. Thats not it tho.
