I am convinced that the original theme tune for the first series of "Only Fools & Horses" was "He Aint Heavy - He's My Brother" by the Hollies. Is this right or did it just feature in one of the early episodes?

i think one of the episodes may have had that as its title
im think only the pilot episode had a different theme toon...but still not what you suggest.
There was a comdey in the 80's called "Sink or Swim" staring Peter Davison that had that song as its theme
Maybe little dennis waterman could write them a new feme toon?
'Fraid not, karentollet; the first episode of 'Only Fools And Horses' was aired back in 1981 with a sort of brassy jazz theme tune, but without any vocals whatsoever. Definitely not The Hollies! Thankfully, from episode 2 it opened with the familiar theme tune we know today. Sorry about that - 'He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother' would have been much more appropriate, if you think about it ...

As a footnote, I always thought the theme tune was sung by Rodney, whereas it turns out that it was actually voiced by John Sullivan, the show's creator. What a plonker I really am!
i remember loving sink or swim !
i used to be gutted cos it used to get repeated back in the days when many progs were regional only.
