Has anyone ever tried to trace the woman who phoned the BBC to report that there was a hurricane coming in 1987?

Is it anyone out there?
Do you know who the woman may be?

Michael Fish claims she was taling about one in Florida but he didn;t mention it in the infamous clip of him on the news they always show.

He said it was a friend of his who called because she or a relative were about to go on holiday to Florida........ so why say on a weather forecast for the UK that there wont be a hurricane in Florida? Bad excuse me thinks!
What a load of tosh. He said on the programme last night that it was something to do with them not getting enough warnings, and then said that ''We didn't know how strong it was going to be''.

Oh please. If old Mrs Miggins from Dagenham phones up the weather centre and insists that there is a storm coming because her ears are twitching and the cat is hopping about on one leg, they must take her seriously.

She is far more reliable than their weather charts.

I was more curious as to how a member of the public knew of an impending hurricane.....

Time traveller maybe?

Then again everyone knows that time travel cannot be used to change events in the past !
Her son was an amateur weatherman apparently.
He shouldve being doing the national weather that night then squarebear!

You're so tabloid!

Mr Fish was taken out of context. The previous item in the news was about Hurricane Emily and he was just linking between the news and the weather. It wasn't a hurricane.

The Great Storm was just that - a Force 10 storm. Hurricanes are Force 12. Have you even been to the Western Isles in autum? Typical soft southeners exaggerating things.
