Apparently the Corrie stars drink lemonade with brown food colouring- lovely!

I think they use apple juice when showing someone drinking whisky.

It was reported that there was a soap atar who paid the props man to put real beer in his glass in scenes. His name was not given.

Even if it was real usually they only take 2 sips then they have to shoot off somewhere leaving practically a whole pint behind! That would never happen in my neck of the woods.

I read about this many years ago. Spirits such as gin and whiskey were non- alcohol substitutes but beer was real because the head on a glass of beer could not be replicated accurately.
