Childrens programme

I used to watch a programme when I was a young child (probably late 70's, early 80's) which seemed to be in a woodland clearing setting. The presenter would sit on a log in the middle of the clearing (which had a piece of the log sliced off a bit like a desk) and tell a story. Before the
story was told the presenter would spell out the name of the story on the log with coloured magnetic letters. This is all I can remember, but I just wondered if anybody else out there knew what it was. Thanks.
