Was strapped down and made to watch Deal or No Deal today, and noticed that all the audience happen to be wearing black shirts or black frocks - is it a condition of
attending or are they in mourning for the death of interesting quiz shows?

I'd like to know too, forgot to tape it so missed the whole programme, who was on and how much did they win?
It so they don't show up too much on TV, as the focus is on the player. You usually see the player with the audience in the background. If they were all to wear day-glo spandex, it wouldn't be a pretty picture.
A mouthy, West Ham supporting thug (didnt catch his name) won 10p. His missus was a bit tasty, tho. Ha ha.
and yes it is a condition of being in the audience, although some people obviously ignore it
Wearing dark clothes is also a condition for the audience on celebrity editions of The Weakest Link. Black T-Shirts are giving out to those who turn up wearing bright colours.
