Wow what a surgery that is. Bloke walked in off the street, got to see a Dr straightaway, who then took blood tests and told him results would be back later the same day.

Impressive!

Many results are available the same day.

The samples are transported to the nearest Hospital lab, and most are processed that day, or by the next day. Results are then sent electronically to most GP surgeries. A hard copy is sent with the couriers the next day.

Of course, the first bit is unbelievible !
hmmm, all my results come back in 7 days no matter how serious...
Microbiology tests take longer, and some Biochemistry tests are batched but most tests including Renal Function, Full Blood Counts, Thyroid Function Tests and Liver Function Test, are done same day or next day.
