Hi all I had a rather unusual afternoon
it started when a guy came round and asked if I wanted a quote for replacing my doors, after a bit of chat and my saying I'm not quite reafy to have it done but may need it sometime he said look can I just put you in for a quote so I get paid, I though ok suppose one needs to make a living and I wouldn't mind knowing how much roughly as it will need doing. So I say ok, then he says look you will have to say your working (which I'm not) else they won't come and do the quote I thought ok I can tell a white lie.
so I get rung up after a few minutes to check that its ok for another person to come out at 4-4:30 to mesure up and quote me. Ok so the guy comes and again asks me if I'm working I say yea and he try's to talk me into buying now and paying in installments, I say look I prefer not to do that just give me a quoite and I'll get back to you (their leaflet with the buy one get one free offer says the quote lasts 12 months) he said look I'll tell you something you musn't tell head office I told you or they won't come out again to quote you: if you get a qute with me now and pay in installments its cheaper than the buy one get one free offer so this is what we do I'll call in and tell them that you got called out to work unexpectedly and havn't got time now and they will ring you later and try to get another appointment to which you say you will ring back when your not busy. I thought ok that get shot of em and said right go ahead.
now the stupid thing is:
1 why do two people need to be involved in giving a quote why couldn't the first guy do the measuring.
2 it seems all their reps are giving away secret company info hm
3 why's he trying to get me to buy on the moment promissing cheap prices.
4 this all looks very fishy

If you are given the 'spiel' about a discount for signing now etc, they always say that the price could go up if you don't sign straight away. I always say that I will not be rushed into making a decision, if the price changes I will go elsewhere and take the time to make a considered purchase. I personally wouldn't use a company that used selling tactics like this.

yea I know thats what I mean its a bloated rep system these people need paying so it will increase the price versus me just contacting someone for the work I mean its just so deceptive I don't mind a guy giving me a quote but they just make a huge mess. I mean to my mind a company that has such underhand advertising methods is probably not too worried about quality of work,
infact while phoning from my front room they guy said "yes I told him that" and probably was the plot to get me to say yes now by promissing a better price if I agree imediatly as oposed to getting back to them badically he wouldn't measure and pronounce unless I said I would have it done NOW

I ysed Safestyle for my front windows and door, they were ok but they charged me too much apparently, isn't there always a clever so and so being wise after the event, but the service and the work was spot on, very very little disruption if any, and they did what they said when they said.
I can't remember how I heard about them, but I think I called them and made an appointment.

Oh I paid cash, they did try to sell me finance but before the guy came out i told them it would be cash paid on completion of the job. I counted out the 20 notes to this guy after the work was done and he said he didn't know what to do with it, it was 3700 I think, might have been more, he had to ring his boss to ask, I can't remember if i pais a deposit, i think maybe i did, not 100% sure. It is the finance that is their earner i think, not the actual product

If you had accepted a quote and signed on the dotted line with rep number 1 you would have a lot more legal rights re cancellation and cooling off than by accepting a quote and signing with rep 2 who called by your invitation.
Simple as that.
The rest is just sales puff.
Go to your local independent trader - you'll get better service and value.

This subject has come up on AB before. Safestyle is a cowboy outfit. The head honcho is a delightful Asian gentleman from Bradford who has a murder conviction to his name, among other things.
The sales reps are paid a basic 50 a week and make their money from commission, both from the sale of their shoddy products and from finance deals. Don't touch them with a bargepole.
You'd be better off using a reliable local firm.

their whole method of getting work just looks shady to me I won't deal with them and somebody thats using all that rep team has to pay for it somehow.
its like autoglass they are always more exspensive than a local glass replacer I was told this by an autoglass windscreen fitter that did my neihbours car basically they get the work mainly thru insurance claims and so people are not worried about the cost.

Sorry to hear that Angel wasn't satisfied with the product and the work. A friend of mine works for Safestyle, and had her own windows replaced by them. Absolutely no problems at all, and because of it, she recommended them to other people - who've also been pleased with the results. On the other side of the coin, I know someone who had work done by another firm (Bernard Matthews springs to mind), and the end result was so poor that it had to be rectified three times! They were also dearer, and didn't turn up at the appointed time.
