corrie sad baby story

I really like corrie and have watched it all my life. It's now something I watch with my daughter and we have some good discussions about relationships and human behaviour etc. I was stunned last night though, as we saw Maria deliver her dead baby. She knows it's just a story but it was very graphic and quite upsetting. Had there been a warning, I wouldn't have let her watch it. Was there a warning and I just didn't hear it? What do you think about it? x

It was in Monday`s storyline that she had to go in to hospital "tomorrow" to deliver the baby.

yes, but I didn't think they would show it the way they did.

I thought it was excellent. This soap in recent years has dealt with graphic and brutal murders; psychotic behaviour; very casual sex; abortion; domestic violence...

to show an incident that can happen to pregnant women - beyond their control - in an unsensationailed way is to be commended.

I am puzzled that you think it is fine for your daughter to watch the rest of it, but worry about this one issue.

I missed the previous episode, how did she know her baby was dead, and when did she find out? I thought when she was going to the hospital they were just going to induce her.
I knew it was going to be born dead but didn't know that they already knew, which I assume they did because of the way that the poofy bloke reacted to her.

Maria was talking to the poofy bloke in the pub a couple of days before and told him that she hadn't felt the baby move for a couple of days so he took her to the hospital for a scan and found the baby had died then it was arranged for her to go in the next day and give birth. HTH

maria was talking to marcus in the salon about liam staying out the previous night at carla`s. the chat got round to the baby. marcus suggested that sh goes to the hospital to get things checked. after some pesuassion she agreed to go. she did not tell liam anything, and went on her own the following morning.
