Who was the best??

(My American wife to be has just watch The Two Ronnies for the first time ever, and I really do not think I have ever seen anybody laugh so genuinely hard ever!!!!)

They both have good points and good sketches, but I think M & W edge it...who can forget the Andre Previn sketch? Priceless and still as funny today!

I like when M&W used to the funny dance routines and such!!especially the one featuring the jungle book characters!!!

M&W are more visual than the Two Ronnies.
Ronnie Barkers use of language was just amazing.
But Eric Morcombs visual comedy was histerical at times.
But the Two Ronnies win for shear consistancy.

Different styles of comedy, and both absolute classics in their time.

The physical comedy of Eric Morecambe and the timing was immaculate.

I do prefer The Two Ronnies though, mainly for Ronnie Barker's intricate word-play, and the fact that he wrote the majority of their best scripts (most under a pseudonym, so they got into the show on merit).
Morecambe and Wise relied far more on script-writers, but they did manage to impose their own personalities on the sketches with memorable results (especially when special guests were involved!)

It's a close-run thing - would have been easier if you'd asked "who's the best, Two Ronnies or Little and Large" or "Morecambe and Wise or Cannon and Ball" - then there would have been an unanimous reply!

A very hard choice, when you consider the quality of of both duos and the number of classic sketches both produced, Eric & Ernies Breakfast to the stripper, and the Ronnies Fork Handles being two which come to mind but both typical of the standard of work these two fine duos produced. As pointed out different types of comedy but both top class

Has to be the Two Ronnies, Ronnie Barkers genius took them beyond M&W. M&W relied on material from others. Its sad that the people of Morecambe think that Eric (or rather the rubbish statue) is the thing that brings droves of visitors to the town! And the even sadder fact is that some of the visitors believe that Morecambe is named after Eric, what hope is there?
