Bad Reception BBC4 and BBC on Freeview

I have recently had a new Panasonic TV and DVD Recorder installed (with new aerial on the roof), both Plasma and DVD Recorder incorporate Freeview . However BBC4 (and BBC3, to some degree) have really bad reception, all the time, with lots of squeaking and zig zagging over the screen, even when the weather is good. I can understand when it is bad reception in a thunderstorm but it is all the time. Is it the not installed properly, or is there something I can do? Sometimes watching Freeview thru the DVD recorder is slightly better on these stations. I also have an older TV in my other room, with another Freeview box separately installed and the picture is bad in that room as well so I presume it is the aerial ??
