what really happened to Wellard

Eastenders on Friday was so sad. i was just wondering what really has happened to Wellard, has he been retired off does anyone know please i should love to know.

Well, Wellard over the years has been played by about 3 or 4 dogs, all from the same family.

The last Wellard, who was snuffed out on Friday, was actually a bitch, not male. She is still in good health, but has just been retired, because she is now quite old and her owner and trainer feels it's time for her to rest.

I don't know why she hasn't been replaced.

Wellard hasn't been replaced in EE as he was about 15 yrs old & would have been unrealistic for him to stay young & alive forever!
and of course soaps are always true to life.....?! :o)

Kyte (Wellard) belongs to Gill Raddings who runs a company called Stunt Dogs. They provided dogs and other animals for film and tv work. http://www.stuntdogs.net/

Wellard's real name is Minka Independence Kyte and she will be fourteen in November. She is a Belgian Shepherd (Terveuren). She is now retired but was a top agility dog in her younger days.

The vet does a post mortem on Wellard and discovered he was ill because Bianca gave him chocolate. Hopefully the message will get across to people not to feed their dogs chocolate.

Wellard's wage demands became, in the words of the producers, ''completely unrealistic''
Getting paid the extra Bonio, plus a pack of Schmackos would have ''completely unbalanced our wage structure''
The BBC Director General was quoted as saying '' I won't be held to ramsom by a dog''
And he wasn't talking about Bianca or Peggy

I cried my eyes out when he died. My boyfriend thought I was mad! It was very well done although I wish they didn't have to show him dying...
