Is it possible for a male dog who has been castrated to make a bitch pregnant?

My 10 year old dog was castrated approx 7 years ago. My 1 year old bitch finished her first season about three weeks ago and her teats have become large. Am concerned she is pregnant . She was kept on the lead at all times during her season and never had any contact with other dogs during this time. The only male dog she went near or was left on her own with is my own castrated one. Could it be possible that a) she is pregnant and b) he has got her pregnant. Am really worried. Thanks for any advice given.

Not an expert, but will be interested in replies to your post, as my bitch had first season in October and teats and, erm, lady bits, are bigger now than they used to be.

I doubt she is pregnant, btw.

Castration removes the testicles, so she wouldnt be pregnant. She could be having a phantom pregnancy, our husky bitch used to hoard her toys a few wekks after finishing her seasons, she whined and took them everywhere with her, also her nipples became larger too.
Vet said it was a phantom preg, we let her have 2 more seasons before jointly decided with the vet we had her spayed as it wasnt fair on her x

Although its a bit early, it sounds like a phantom pregnancy. They usually happen about the time the bitch would give birth (i.e. approximately 9 weeks after she would have been mated)
and they can start collecting toys, socks or even dishclothes and take them to their bed to 'nurse'. Best thing is to get her spayed mid way between seasons, as bitches that have phantoms tend to keep on having them.

It is not possible for a castrated dog to make a bitch pregnant, although some will still try (and even succeed) in mating a bitch. Are you definitely sure no-one opened a door and let her out, or a dog got into your garden?

My little girl is due to be spayed next Friday. Not especially happy about date, it 13th :-(

Mate's staffie had phantom, carried a football boot and bob the builder toy everywhere with her for weeks!!!

Thanks for your comments. What is the best time to get her spayed? I don't want her to have another season.

About three months after a season, when any milk might have dried up and her bits have gone back to normal.
