CSI last night

I watched CSI on Tuesday the 13th and, as usual, enjoyed it. But all the 'spy' stuff confused me. Can somebody explain to me:-

(1) why the German guys were following the CSIs and why they turned up at the river thus allowing the CSIs to know of their existence.
(2) Why the book was faxed to the CSIs by the CIA creeps.
(3) Why did the Germans kill the son - he didn't seem to be involved.
(4) what was the comment at the end (to Ray by the CIA man) about - about taking leave in Vietnam?

I don't watch spy films for some reason...........................

I agree the CSI/NCIS series are fantastic!

The way i understood last night was that the 'victim' actually killed himself due to his stage4 cancer. But as a proud man he didn't want to go out that way, so his mate = the really creepy CIA bloke, produced a tablet of Sarin, a highly toxic substance that was used by the Germans in the 2nd World War. The idea was that the Germans would be blamed for his death, and therefore no-one would know he killed himself. I think that the book was released to produce a reason as to why the Germans would want to kill him. Not sure about the Son, i think that he was killed because he was the one that had sent the book to CSI to fit them up.

Wasn't the son photographed (by the germans) hitting his father with a paddle and putting him into the canoe. As to the Vietnam reference I think the CIA man was alluding to something in Rays' fathers past which no doubt come out in a latter episode

In a previous episode, Ray said that his father was an heroic Vietnam vet. It would seem that we are to find out to the contrary!

The book had allegations about a prospective German chancellor (or politician) I think it was a woman.

The guy who died did so in cohoots with his C.I.A mate so the it would look like the Germans would be blamed the book would be put into evidence and the politician would be discredited. The Germans were aware of the existance of the book and were looking for it.

They were at the river in case the CSI found it. Because CSI solved it the book would never be in evidence so the plot back fired.
