TV programme Name Please!

Does anyone remember a tv programme similar to Supernanny but much earlier about the late 1980#s early 1990's? Been wracking my brains trying to remember the title but all I can remember is a family from Glasgow {I think} who was advised to take the lock off the inside of the child's bedroom door to which he turned round and hisse 'you'll no be taking my lock off, I'll stab you through'. Can anyone help with the name of either the show or the 'Nanny'?
