80s Cop show?

Does anyone remember the name of a 80s TV show maybe about a Photographer/Detective? and the theme tune was Bonnie Tylers "Holding out for a hero" im sure the star of it also killed himself too.

The show was called 'Cover Up' and was about a photographer who doubled as a government agent. As you do. His model (played by Jon Erik something or other) was also a spy. The actor accidentally shot himself (as you do) halfway through the first series, so his character was replaced with another actor. He's dead now too
