faulty fruit machine stole my money... please read, advice needed...

hi everyone, im in need of advice. Earlier i was in my local pub when i put a couple of quid in the 'deal or no deal' gambler. afetr playing it for a few minutes i managed to get as far as playing the main game in the middle of the board (anyone who has seen this type of gambler knows what i mean), this is where there are various amounts of money lit up & then after the gambler eliminating 3 random amounts it gives you an offer to which you can 'deal' (& collect the offer) or 'no deal (where you refuse the offer & play on). I refused a few offers as i was feeling confident & got right to the end of the game when all was left was £70 lit up. it then made me a final offer of £30 or there abouts to which i refused as i presumed i had £70 as this was all that was left on the board. Then to my horror an amount of 20p lit up in the middle of the board (which indicates what amount was in my box). It was then i realised the bulb for the 20p had broken, & what i actually won was 20p. I feel i was unfairly cheated by this gambler as i would obviously have 'dealt' at a sooner point had i known that the 20 pence amount was still active on the board, Is there any advice or anything i can do legally to try & correct this problem & possibly recieve anything for this fault? Im not usually one for playing on fruit machines but this has really got up my chuff & am really angry about it... Any replies would be gratfully recieved & ill get back to you as soon as i can, thanks Dale

Not sure how they could prove tht hunni? Could u take an address or number frm the machine to complain? X

cheers tinkerbell, that could probably be the best thing to do. I did complain to the person behind the bar but they just said they would get someone to have a look at the machine, but i just feel a bit hard done by by such a simple problem

I doubt there's much that can be done about a faulty bulb. I suspect to go anywhere legally you'd have to prove that staff / owner knew the bulb was faulty but did nothing about it anyway. Bulbs can blow at any time obviously just like they do in your house.

id get back in contact with the pub and say to them that it was broken and unfair and see what they say? They shouldnt just go oh we will get it fixed as its not good enough...other poor folk might pop some money in and get fleeced by this faulty light as well which isnt right!

Well no actually "ilsonchick", "we'll get it fixed" is all they can reasonably be expected to do provided they switch the machine off in the meantime. If they continue to allow the machine to be played with the bulb not working and without a notice warning people using it then they would be fleecing people. However, they cannot be expected necessarily to know a machine isn't working properly unless someone tells them.

They might be leasing the machine. Contact the vendors. Number should be on the machine.
