Just seen a clip for next weeks programme - wasn't it inevitable that they would succumb to fags and booze whilst at a festival..? They are teenagers after all....
I am recording it and haven`t seen it. I`m surprised the Amish community have let their young people come over here and be exposed to temptation. Should be interesting to see what happens next
I understand that they are actually allowed to. When Amish kids get to teenage they are allowed to leave the community and experience life outside it THEN choose whether to join the community or stay outside.
How come if they are so insular and out of the main stream that one of them, when asked if they knew JFK, they replied 'doesn't ring a bell' seemed an odd choice of phrase to me.
It was a couple of years ago wasn`t it when there was that mass murder in the Amish community? Might have been more recent than that. I remember seeing footage of the elders of the community travelling home by their horse and trap. It was so bizarre because it could have been a picture from 100 years ago.
The Amish have a market in I think it`s Boston, or might be Philladelphia - can`t remember. Funny how they don`t want to interact with the outside world, but they do when they can sell something and make some money
The Amish have a reputation for excellent craftsmanship, and they still need to find ways to survive in the modern world. If there is a demand for their goods-and there is-why shouldn't they sell them?
