Apparently the twist is that in live show next week each judge will choose one from the rejects to come back.

Poor Louis - he talks a good game - professional that he is - but ehe must know that the demofraphic who pick up their phones and vote will not be voting for anyone in his catagory - he could pack up now.

Credit to him though - he does the best with what he has to work with.

I think it's a close call this year - but i think Cheryl will win again.

I think it would be great if they did bring back a few of the rejects....but isn't the premise of rejecting when you know they will be brought back,a rather nasty mind game to play? Just looking at how some reacted-you know they feel their dream has been shattered.

i agree with you weecalf , i have a friend i used to work with who entered this year ......didn't even get seen by the judges ...... but now he is bringing his 1st album out next year good luck to him and hope he goes far .

It's important not to lose sight of the fact that X Factor is a TV show first, and a talent contest second.

That's why the supermarket lady is through to the 'live' shows when she hasn't a hope of winning - it'e because a large part of the TV audience like her, but would not ring up and vote for her - so she stays in the show.

On the other hand, the judges will pick someone who has a better 'appeal', over someone who has a better voice - modern pop stars are built on image as much as vocal ability - remember Michelle Macmanus? Everyone was talking about how nice it was that someone less photogenic won a contest - but the reality is, people don't want overwight plain pop stars - it simply does not happen.

It certainly is a question of style over substance in the X Factor and is why both Cher and Katie got through as they have that look that the judges want, doesnt matter that neither of them seem to be that good when comapred to the girls that didnt get picked last night, most notably Gamu. Im sure she will be Cheryl's wildcard choice though.
