The people watching giant plasma screens get more for their money than people like me who only have a portable. Why shouldn't I pay less?

... because you'd pay less, then go out and buy a 60'' LCD telly.

What a ridiculous question, sorry.

Pinkilady, that's a good idea. I never thought of that.

I can't work out of this is a serious question or a cheeky one.

Either way, i'll agree for now. Until I go shopping in the sales after xmas and get myself a nice big LCD.
Oooh, I like the idea!

I normally watch telly on the little 4" screen of my old Sony Video Walkman, which sits here on my desk. Occasionally though I use my 'big' telly, which is a 14" Sony Trinitron (£5 from an auction room).

Your scheme definitely appeals to me, SandyRoe ;-)
not really you still see the same

reminds me of the pole tax joke. I'd be due a rebate.
A valid observation, Doc!

But if I only had a B+W set I'd get a reduction in the licenCe. Why not for a 14" portable?
Do you have to have a licence if you are watching tv on your mobile phone, some phones have that facility now haven't they?
I'm not bothered as found out last week because I live in sheltered housing I don't have to have a licence of my own. The housing association sorts it out and it costs £7.50 a year for each flat. Result!!
