I agree with the statement that they are actors, scripted and directed by others, so to the extent that they achieve the required reaction from the audience they are doing a good job.

Incidentally, I was most disappointed last week when one of the throw-away one-liners dipped below the radar. It was the scene where Joy's neighbour met Stape on her doorstep and explained that he had been returning an Audio book by Joanna Trollope.
