Is it just me or is anybody else being driven to distraction by the amount of overwhelming background music on tv now? Do you feel it's got so bad that you are actually switching off? I am not hard of hearing but it must be even worse for those that are.
I couldn't agree more Manta,
I mute the sound to some programmes ,and put the subtitles on it has got so bad
One of the worst offender is "Homes Under the Hammer" one mention of a green door, or damp,or a nice view, and a suitable pop record that fits comes blaring out!
Thak God for the mute button.
Background music should be background, not fighting (and winning) against dialogue.
Only problem with using the subtitles is that I find it more difficult to multitask.
Yes I find annoying as well. And I also find it annoying when they talk very near to whisper-like that you can't ahear a word that is being spoken. And the camera that keeps jumping around.
The other weird " camera trick" is~
You see the person talking (to camera)
and then you seem them in profile(from another camera)
still
talking to the original camera!
Weird.
I'm chuckling at Invictas' "green door" comment. It does turn the programme into a bit of a comedy.
OH used to record it to watch on his day off. The pop-up pop music silliness drives him nuts and he's stopped watching it.
I just read out Invictas' comments to him. He replied, "Thank the Lord it's not just me then. I feel like throwing something at the telly screen when they do that".
