Programme about Inventions

On holiday in Dubai about 5 years ago, Prog on the hotel's satelite TV. Each prog was quite short (about 5 minutes long) and detailed an invention. (All these inventions never caught on) It told you what the invention was made from etc then left you guessing through the ad break as to what it was.

Any clues as to what the name of the prog was?

All answers much appreciated.
