Elderly family & access to savings

elderly in-laws have 3-4 savings accounts but due to their age are virtually unable to get to the building society, whats the procedure to help them access there savings ? not internet as they are just savings accounts.(Nationwide you need a full flex account)

My late mother gave access to her savings account when she lived in Yorkshire and I lived in London. When she died there was about £8 in her account and not the £30,000 that should have been there. Nothing could be done then to the thief as Mother had given access. I am in no way suggesting that this will happen to your in-laws. I am just saying what happened to me.
