Ashes to Ashes

Ashes to Ashes is a police drama with a twist. This series is the sequel to the hit cult show Life on Mars. The central character Alex Drake is played by Keeley Hawes. Many of the cast of the first series return to reprise their roles including Dean Andrews, Marshall Lancaster and Montserrat Lombard.

For many both series have been made by the performance of Philip Glenister as Gene Hunt. The Hunt character is portrayed as politically incorrect, brutal and corrupt but is fiercely loyal to subordinate members of his team. The show carefully ekes out the elements that will resolve the central mystery of what the franchise has been about.

The journey that began with Life on Mars concludes as Alex Drake embarks on her final mission: to uncover the truth about Gene Hunt and unlock the dark secrets of this world. Alex is sent back to 1983 and something feels different. The arrival of DCI Jim Keats, sent by Scotland Yard to monitor the stations performance, throws some unexpected light on past events. Haunted by the ghost of a policeman, Alex decides that her only hope in getting home lies in finding out what really happened to Sam Tyler.
